Legal protection of inventions in Estonia is available via entering international (PCT) application to the national phase in Estonia.
PCT national phase procedure is not available in other Baltic countries Latvia and Lithuania. 

Types of protection available via the PCT in Estonia: Patents, utility models (a utility model may be sought instead of or in addition to a patent).

Requirements for entering the national phase of a PCT application in Estonia
Deadline: 31 months from the priority date
  • Specification and claims in Estonian, drawings, abstract in Estonian and in English, information about the inventor and applicant, WO publication No, amendments, if any.
  • If the application materials were not filed in Estonian, the Estonian translation must be filed within 2 months.
Representation before the Estonian Patent Office.
A person with no residence, seat or commercial or industrial enterprise operating in Estonia must authorize a patent attorney as a representative before the Estonian Patent Office.
